What is DuraTherm ?
DuraTherm is the thermal spacer (Warm Edge) applied robotically, which fixes the glass sheets, so that the windows are high-performance, beautiful and long-lasting. This technology allows the replacement of an assembly of components used in classic spacers with a single component, made of a composite material with high insulation, sealing and resistance performances. It takes a discreet aesthetic form, which recommends it as being invisible. The solution has been continuously improved for over 25 years by KÖMMERLING, in collaboration with BASF, the world-s largest company in the chemical industry.
The raw material underlying this spacer is a single-component, Polyisobutylene-based material, which also includes the absorbent material (molecular sieve). It is produced by the renowned German company KÖMMERLING Chemische Fabrik GmbH and is also known as KÖDISPACE, the safest spacer system on the market.

High energy efficiency
- Linear transmittance ψ-value (PSI): 0.035 W/m2k.
- Gas loss rate: 0.4% per year (limit < 1%).
- DuraTherm contributes to improving the window-s thermal coefficient Uw .
- The new heat-applied spacer is optimal for passive houses and is very effective in preventing condensation.

What Makes ADF Windows with DuraTherm the Right Choice?
Automatic adjustment of the insulating glass unit thickness
Robotization determines the highly accurate determination of the thickness of the insulating glass package, with tolerances allowed by profile manufacturers of ± 1 mm and its perfect integration into the window frame (without additional pressure on the seals that could cause non-conformities).

No Butyl migration
When using classic spacers in the insulating glass package, the so-called “Butyl migration” phenomenon may occur. In this case, the qualities of the windows are affected both technically and aesthetically. The chemical reaction that DuraTherm makes with the glass on which it is applied determines the absence of this phenomenon.

Perfect alignment
(triple insulating glass)
The fully robotic application of the DuraTherm spacer contributes to an impeccable aesthetic appearance. The two spacers in the 3-sheets insulating glass unit are perfectly aligned.
Spacer applied continuously,
without interruptions
The window-s performance is ensured in the long term, as there are no connectors or joining corners. The gas between the glass sheets is preserved for a long time, DuraTherm having the lowest gas loss rate among the spacers on the market.
Increased flexibility The spacer takes on the deformations of the glass.
DuraTherm is elastic, flexible and makes windows more resistant to the impact of wind on them or to fluctuations in temperatures and atmospheric pressure.

Neutral color
The matte black color of the DuraTherm spacer aesthetically perfectly integrates the insulating glass package into the window frame, regardless of its color.
